For some reason I lost my Internet last night and so I slept instead of writing...but I still want to share and so today all seems to be good to go...
And we received the text last night (Sept 12) from Tim’s “sister”…this would be his sister from another mother and father…all it said was “Mother went home to be with the Lord tonight at 11:00 pm.” Mother Boomer…Eva…a very special lady…
So as Izzy would say…THERE WE WERE…we had decided to take in
Olive Garden in Colorado Springs. I am
not sure why we had ventured there this particular time but that was where we
were. Well Debbie ordered the salmon
which she does order quite often and then is less than pleased if it comes out
DRYYYY (please note this is said in a way southern accent that has become one
of her signature words in addition to IIIIIIIICE you know I-C-E ice…okay I have
too many Debbie stories…
Well we all get our orders and lo and behold Debbie’s salmon
was yes you guessed it DRYYYYYYYY! So
she proceeds to tell our server that it is dry.
To which the waitperson proceeds to go and tell the kitchen manager I
think it was. So out comes this woman
who goes to this other table and proceeds to ask the people at another table if
there is salmon is dry. These people
seem somewhat puzzled and I suppose that is when I began as I seem to have to do is begin laughing to which seems to just inspire Deb to be all the more funnier...
Because at our table there is Debbie saying, “Excuse me—it is me.” “Mine is Dryyyy.” To which she finally draws the attention of
this person…who believes that this accent surely must be a southern bell
visiting our fair state of Colorado.
She asks Debbie where she is from and somehow I think she leaves this
manager thinking she is probably still from the south. The manager proceeds to sit down at our
table and talk with Debbie (as we usually are a fun table at least in our own minds). After Debbie is assured her meal would be
comped…Tim proceeds to begin whining that Debbie shouldn’t be getting hers free
and not him. I laugh and tell this
manager that they were separated at birth!
For some reason she believes this is a true story and begins to go at
Tim telling him to be nice to his sister…and there began the beginning of the “Boomer
Twins”.
And with this bond…Eva…became “Mother” to Tim as well. He kept trying to convince others that he
was the favorite! And “Mother” was a
favorite to him as well. It was hard to
hear of all that our friends were going through as Eva had some serious health
issues going on…and near the end had went through much. It is those times that even though our hearts
hurt to miss this special person…we also are thankful that their pain is
relieved. Especially when we believe
they have a faith that will take them to a better place…”Mother went “home” to
be with the Lord”. So this morning at
my kitchen table when reading my devotions I came upon God Calling…
September 13 - No Other Name
My Name is the Power that turns evil
aside, that summons all good to your aid. Spirits of evil flee at the sound of
"Jesus." Spoken in fear, in weakness, in sorrow, in pain, it is an
appeal I never fail to answer. "Jesus."
Use My Name often. Think of the unending call of "Mother" made by her children. To help, to care, to decide, to appeal, "Mother." Use My Name in that same way - simply, naturally, forcefully. "Jesus."
Use it not only when you need help but to express Love. Uttered aloud, or in the silence of your hearts, it will alter an atmosphere from one of discord to one of Love. It will raise the standard of talk and thought. "Jesus."
"There is none other Name under Heaven whereby you can be saved."
Because of the savour of thy good
ointments
thy name is as ointment poured forth. Song of Solomon 1:3
thy name is as ointment poured forth. Song of Solomon 1:3
Mother right there…just made me think of “Mother Boomer” and
also that my friends who were in pain would cry to Jesus as well…and as I read
this I looked out the window and there she was a lone dove sitting on the wire…and
she just sat…and the words of I’ll Fly Away came to mind. I remember this song from my mother’s funeral
and it just seemed to give me comfort. So I share it here...sang with an angels voice...Allison Krauss...and a reminder of past days and style of my mom and her sis...
The dove just sat there on the wire...and so I put up the view from my kitchen table...as I started to watch her...though I changed the color somewhat...the grayness was there...and though it was a "gray" day to all of us that have suffered the drought...the prior rain...and cloudiness were more joy than sadness...
If you look close you can see her and if you look at the picture at the top you will see three other birds...of these when I was thinking of Eva the other day and the three women that came to mind...with each three more came to mind and with "Mother Boomer", it was her daughter and her two daughters...all beautiful women like Eva...and so I smiled and was intrigued when I watched the birds as it caused me to pause and pray for my friends...as it is not an easy thing to do to say goodbye to a mother or a grandmother...And I prayed...that God's Love would shine upon them...when I worked with this picture...I loved the one in which the Light seemed to appear...
As I got to work...there circling around was a dove and it seemed to be singing...I smiled thinking that Eva was in another place free at last from the pain that had her bound...and then later...two doves sat upon my roof top as if to catch my attention and then they flew...I smiled and thought I wonder if Eva is united with Earl...Oh I know many say they are just birds...but like I said before...sometimes God gives me birds...as reminders of His Love...and I smile and think of the picture I seen today...it seems to fit right in. I am thinking and praying for you Autry's and we will see you soon! lyp
